1) You and several of your friends are big Michigan State fans. One of your best friends also loves Ohio State. If tickets for the Spartan football game Vs. Ohio State go on sale July 27th and today is June 15th, how many more days do you have to wait until tickets go on sale?
2) You and your family are planning on going to the Michigan State Football game against Central Michigan. Tickets are expected to be $45 each. If there are 6 people in your family, how much money do you expect you will need to buy everyone a ticket?
I like the fact that you used Michigan State in order to get the students to understand concepts about math. I know that many students who live around here would be State fans, and this problem would be exciting for them to solve. They also might be football fans, which might motivate them as well. I think both problems are worded in a way to catch the student's attention. I like the other pictures from the community as well and think that math problems can be created from the pictures that would really get the students thinking and engaged. I think that the first problem might be producers without connections because the students can count on a calender. Although they might be able to do this easily, I think it is still important to teach students how to do this, and this kind of problem would benefit them. I think the second problem might be procedures without connections as well because they can plug in numbers to an equation. Overall, I think the students would enjoy solving these problems and learn the math concepts that go along with these problems.
